
How to prevent yourself and your family from COVID -19 infection
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
- If soap and water are not readily available, then use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid close contact with people and maintain minimum of 6 ft. distance.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue whenever you cough or sneeze, throw the soiled tissue in dustbin and wash your hands.
- Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces regularly with approved disinfectants.
- Wear a non-medical mask or fabric mask which is three-layered with an inner absorbent layer, a layer touching the mouth and an outer layer, which does not allow water to be absorbed easily
- Along with effective hand hygiene, oral hygiene plays an important role in prevention of Covid-19.
- Oral cavity is the main entry point for virus (SARS-CoV-2) therefore, it is important to disinfect oral cavity at regular intervals.
- Gargling with antiseptics like Povidone-iodine gargle for 15 seconds is recommended for effective oral hygiene.
- Latest studies published in International Journals also confirms the preventive efficacy of Povidone-iodine gargle against SARS-CoV-2.
